Artist Platica with Adrian Arias

  • 3036 24th Street San Francisco, CA 94110 USA (map)

Closing night and artist platica for Adrian Arias’ solo show “Drawings and Dreams”

Adrian dreams of many of his drawings, and the process is a mystery to unravel. On July 16, in this conversation, we will learn a little more about how the works of 'Drawings and Dreams" were created and the creative and poetic process of this multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of visual arts, poetry, performance, and social justice. There are two people who have collaborated with Adrian in the past who will be in charge of taking this conversation creatively: Kata Miletich, the leader of the local music band LoCura, and Susan Matthews, a local visual artist. Susan and Adrian have collaborated many times painting together at events such as the Illusion show at the Young Museum, Mission Cultural Center, and the Tarot in Pandemic and Revolution at the Oakland Museum and CAST. Kata and Adrian collaborated in the creation of one of LoCura's iconic song, "Los Besos", based on a poem that Adian wrote 10 years ago, in addition to collaborating in the creation of altars for Dia de los Muertos.

PLUS: Adrian will do a visual demonstration of his process.
